Resilience Mental Health
Hello! I'm Rachel Barnhart-Hickmott, LCSW. I am passionate about working with adolescents, adults, and couples in cultivating resilience through talk therapy, the development of healthy coping skills, and symptom management. I see clients exclusively over telehealth services in the state of Idaho.
My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, as I believe that the client is the expert of their own experiences and I am simply a temporary guide on their journey. I often utilize the modalities of dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma focused therapy, amongst others.
I specialize in working with clients managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, stress management, and interpersonal development.
I believe in the importance of creating a safe, non-judgmental space for the therapeutic relationship to flourish, empowering the client to grow and improve freely.
Resilience is a special kind of strength only obtained through experience and growth.
In Japan there is a form of art called Kintsugi, translating to "golden joinery", where broken pieces of pottery are repaired with gold. It is believed that the repaired pieces are now more beautiful and stronger than they were before they ever broke. This is what resilience means to me and why I chose it for the name of my practice. When we focus on our recovery rather than our "brokenness", we truly begin to thrive.
